Year by year using of structural glass fabrics and silica fabrics increases due to growing demand of the aircraft industry. The helicopter industry uses glass fabrics for production of fibre-glass items.
One of the most critical assemblies of aeronautical engineering is blades of a helicopter rotor which have to withstand high static and complex alternating loads during operation. Nowadays, the process of manufacturing through the use of structural glass fabric and bonding is the only method of joining the structural elements of blades of main and tail helicopter rotors. Application of high-strength adhesives and structural glass fabrics for this purpose will provide operational reliability and good life of blades.
For jointing of blade elements, joining of tail section skin and a stringer, structural materials are used. High-strength structural materials are used in manufacturing of tail sections of blades of main and tail rotors and other units and assemblies of helicopters today.
